  1. Kneading

First on the list of weird cat behaviours is one to surely weird out any dog owner: kneading. Your cat may very well press his paws into you, massaging you back and forth as if he’s kneading dough. It might seem strange at first, but it’s a sign of affection and something they do to their mothers early in their lives.

  1. Bunting

But cats don’t just rub you with their paws — they might just rub you with their face. This is an act known as “bunting,” which releases pheromones and, once again, is a sign of affection. They release these pheromones to get their smell on you and recognise that you’re there.

It can be hard to tell when a cat is happy because they don’t jump and run around like dogs. However, a sure sign is bunting.

  1. Midnight Sprinting

If you’ve heard your cat bursting around your house in the middle of the night, don’t worry, they’re not trying to warn you of an intruder. Cats sleep intermittently through the day and night, so they might have a significant amount of energy in the evening. Without you awake to play with them, this may be a way of blowing off steam.

Try exercising your cat more to quell this behaviour.

  1. Where They Sleep

One of the strangest things about our feline friends is where they choose to sleep. You might find a cat snuggling up with you in bed or finding space up above a cabinet where no one can find him. So how do you account for these odd cat behaviors?

Several things affect where a cat might sleep, but it mainly comes down to safety, security, and warmth. Union Lake Veterinary Hospital & Pet Services has a wonderful guide on how cats choose who to sleep with.

  1. Staying In Small Spaces

If you’ve noticed that your cat likes to stay in small spaces, don’t be dismayed. They’re naturally built this way.
